Monaco Média Diffusion (MMD) is the exclusive licensee for broadcast radios and DTTV on the frequencies of Monaco. The frequencies licensed to MMD are all those specified and allocated to the Principality by the ITU.

Consequently, MMD broadcasts both on DAB+, FM, LW and MW from its transmitter sites both in Monaco and France: Maritimes Alps and Alpes-de-Haute-Provence.

MMD launched the first MUX DAB+ on April 2014 and second one on 2nd January 2016. It currently broadcasts 18 radio stations.

MMD wants to give the opportunity for new customers who are interested to broadcast in the French Riviera. Radio stations elected could be from all over the world already broadcasting on any kind of frequencies also in streaming.

Due to Monaco’s status as a constitutional monarchy, the Government decides media policy under royal authority. MMD is the exclusive licensor for broadcasting all radios and DTTV on Monaco's frequencies. It decides by itself which radio stations can be broadcast without the necessity for governmental agreement. Regarding DTTV, the Government contracts a licence agreement with the TV media before to be broadcasted by MMD and received by 800.000 inhabitants from Menton to St Tropez).

MMD’s DAB+ multiplex with a view
04.01.2024 - Monaco Monaco
Olivier Cordier from Kiss FM West Coast shared fantastic photos of the Monaco Média Diffusion transmission site on Mont Agel. This same site was originally built for Télé-Monte-Carlo, but it now hosts the MMD DAB+ multiplex the station operates on. Kiss FM West Coast, along with a dozen other stations, uses the multiplex to broadcast to the French Riviera. The transmitter actually sits in French territory, but it operates on a frequency allocated to the Principality of Monaco. The self-supporting metal structure for the antenna is original from the 1950s, even though the DAB multiplex, the second established by MMD, launched in 2016.
